THE CLIENT

Holland House Furniture of Indianapolis started as a small dinette company in January 1992 and soon became a leader in laminated and veneer top dinettes. In January 1999, Holland House was acquired by H.T. Hackney Company of Knoxville, Tennessee and expanded their offerings to include bedroom suites, formal dining room furniture, glider rockers, occasional tables, and entertainment centers. An additional growing element of Holland House included direct imports. As a result, Holland House added an office in Asia to support direct import operations.

For over fifteen years, Holland House has provided high-quality furniture to large-scale furniture retailers located throughout the United States. The company operates a competitive central warehouse program in Indianapolis and a very strong container direct program featuring solid, mixed, and split containers.

THE CHALLENGE:

Holland House knew that business management software would be an important element in keeping operations, multiple locations, and their 75 employees working as efficiently as possible. Holland House was using Microsoft Dynamics® AX 3.0 with a legacy WMS to control financials, inventory, warehouse, and customer information. However, with the acquisition, product expansion, and a growing customer list, the existing technology couldn’t keep up with the business growth and began creating productivity issues and other problems. Holland House realized it was time to make some changes before their technology stifled business growth.

Holland House knew that their existing technology simply wasn’t able to handle their growing business and their strategy for future growth. Merging two businesses and integrating older business data with newer data during the acquisition was a huge challenge. In addition, the personalized customer service that Holland House offers to their customers included customized reporting which was another significant challenge their existing technology found hard to handle. Holland House decided that they needed a new, more powerful business management solution, as well as reliable technical support and a working relationship with a software provider.

THE SOLUTION:

Blue Horseshoe offered a solution that was budget-friendly and Holland House was confident that the consulting team understood their business. Blue Horseshoe started the Holland House renovation with an4upgrade from Microsoft Dynamics AX 3.0 to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 and also provided4WAX, Warehousing for AX, a powerful warehouse management solution to replace their legacy WMS with one that could be fully integrated with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012….
