Technology will enhance advanced supply chain functionality in the Microsoft cloud enterprise platform

JUNE 19, 2018, CARMEL, INDIANA — Blue Horseshoe, a global software and services firm specializing in supply chain and logistics, today announced an agreement with Microsoft for the licensing of Blue Horseshoe’s Advanced Warehousing and Transportation Solutions. This technology will help Microsoft enhance advanced supply chain functionality within Microsoft Dynamics 365.

This isn’t the first time Microsoft has worked to integrate Blue Horseshoe’s supply chain and development expertise. In 2012, Microsoft purchased Blue Horseshoe’s warehousing (WAX) and transportation (TRAX) products. These products became the core warehousing and transportation modules within Dynamics AX 2012 R3. They remain a cornerstone of the Dynamics 365 warehousing and transportation feature set.

“Companies, especially those with complex supply chains, are demanding end-to-end integration of their entire enterprise without sacrificing fulfillment operations,” shares Chris Cason, CEO at Blue Horseshoe. “This licensing agreement will greatly enhance the base warehousing and transportation capabilities native to Dynamics 365 to support best-in-class fulfillment operations.”

Muhammad Alam, General Manager of Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations said, “With the addition of the new Blue Horseshoe Advanced Warehousing and Transportation Solutions, Microsoft Dynamics 365 continues to deepen our cloud solution for complex warehousing and transportation customers.”

These new, advanced feature sets will help Dynamics 365 meet the unique requirements of omni-channel retailers, as well as extend the capabilities required by consumer packaged goods (CPG), food & beverage, distribution and logistics customers. Some of these advanced features include:

  • Put-to-wall operations and put-to-store flow for retailers
  • True catch weight distribution support
  • High volume replenishment slotting planning
  • Efficient receive and sort for inbound operations
  • Support for physical dimensions at the product variant level
  • Master pallet packing for nesting containers
  • Carrier selection/assignment during the wave
  • Material Handling Equipment Integration
  • Retail store pack and ship operations

“The combination of our supply chain solutions and the Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform has created a compelling cloud solution that is much needed within the distribution, retail and transportation industries” said Kevin Paul, CSO at Blue Horseshoe. “Blue Horseshoe will continue to develop industry leading cloud-based solutions within Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Azure.”

For more than two decades, Blue Horseshoe has been recognized as a supply chain technology leader. The company has consistently been part of the Microsoft Inner Circle (top 1% of Microsoft Dynamics Partners Worldwide) and is a 7-time recipient of the “Top Workplaces” award . Based in Carmel, Indiana, the organization has more than 180 Dynamics 365 resources.
